Something monumental happened in music in the 1980ies when King Crimson released three recordings that were decades ahead of their time. There has been no recording released that can even come close to comparison and not even by King Crimson or its members together or apart. Years ago, I met Adrain Belew who was reading a book at the Steven Talk House and all I wanted to do was tell him that he and his three friends from the 80ies changed my life but instead I just shook his hand and let him get back to his reading.
Imagine, these guys wrote an instrumental in a 3/5 time all about the daily grind of modern man called Industry only to moments later play a song about a car from the prospective of a car in a junk yard. Surely, you see that they were way ahead of their time. How far ahead of their time is difficult and based on today’s music since that does not come close. I can think of no higher complement to pay the guys that changed music for me forever… THANKS

I keep in my car at all times The HWWYHTBHW EP! I listen to "Mie Gakure" as my daily Mantra! Sometimes 2 three times in a row. I love turning people onto it, then ask them to try identify the instruments playing!

USA must be one of the best! Asbury Park, what a great number: Bob's lead and John's bass working magically together. By the way, does anyone know where I can get a copy of Sid Smith's "In the Court of King Crimson" with out paying £60+ on Amazon?

Best Regards,

In the wake of poseidon, the most underated of the early crimson albums. I know Greg Lake didn't recieve credit for playing Bass on this album, but, after hearing the epitaph live cd set from the first american tour,he must've shown Peter Giles the Bass patterns note for note. This is an Awesome album and continues to be my personal favorite..
Ray d./Bassist/Yar's revenge and Ghost cirkus.

Moves abound. ET is also moving. Our web host sold our account to some other entity and I've decided we'd be better off moving to a new host of our own choosing instead. The move will mean an upgrade of the MediaWiki software we are using for ETWiki will now be possible, and necessary, but it is surely going to result in a disruption of service if I can't make it all happen smoothly (which is possible as I've not gone through such a process before).

Anyway, Jeff, if you could make not of that with a post that would be nice. Details can be had at ETWiki while the site is still accessible.

Cheers,

If you've seen Adrian live over the past 4 or 5 years you would see that he is happiest in his own element and doing his own thing and the trio is very much enjoyable for him. He enjoys playing with the Slicks and the youthful exuberance that they bring to the stage. I also remember reading a blog he posted saying that he was sorry for any misunderstanding that Robert has with him and is ready to play with him at any time and anywhere. I personally like the trio, but really wanted to see another King Crimson tour with Adrian. I guess we can always hope for a reconciliation at some point in the future.

Given KC's slew of excellent soundboard recordings - am a *bit* disappointed by the dynamics and the audience 'volume'. Otherwise, as kick-ass a set as one could hope for. Looking FWD to what these three come out of the studio with.

Adrian Belew is great as lead singer/guitarist in King Crimson, but I just can't get into his power trio. I don't like the songs. My favorite AB solo album is Inner Revolution. I'd like to see the power trio project end and get KC back in the studio and on the road.

A couple days late.

I listened to
- LTIA
- Discipline

and watched Deju Vroom to complete the trifecta.

PS. Something seems to be missing in my life, for the last year. Oh yeah, the KN podcast.

Having just come across this blog I have to agree that Bill Bruford is a better drummer than Pat Mister Mister. I have seen KC 19 times, including their final NYC show at Nokia. Gavin Harrison is splendid. His work in Porcupine Tree is top-notch. And who says Crim can't play songs 30 years old? They damn near are with Elephant Talk and the like. And haven't they done 21st Century Schizoid Man in concert just recently, Mr. Colburn? Who is Grant (stuck in the 18th century) Colburn, by the way?
