As has become almost a sort of tradition, Nashville will be the public warmup location of choice for this August’s Crim tour.  You’ll find a pair of dates, August 2nd, and 3rd at the Belcourt where the mighty Crim will once again awaken from its slumber.

Belcourt is not a terribly huge venue, (about 334 seats or so), so expect these to go fast!

After Gavin wraps up the KC rehearsals he’s off to play with Porcupine Tree for a few dates this spring and summer before rejoining King Crimson in August.  You can find more info on the Porcupine Tree tourdate info at their website HERE.  To go along with all of that he’ll be at the Geelong Drum Festival “Drumania” near Melbourne as well as the Green Room on April 29th and 30th respectively.

I wonder how many miles he has on that drumkit?  He’s likely due for an oil change!

The second show at New York City is due to the first show already being sold out.

Bringing together what is essentially a mash up of Dream Theater meets King Crimson’s bassist, their pair of releases over the last several years have met with very good reception and reviews, and you’ll kick yourself missing one of these shows if you have the opportunity to make it to one.

Currently there is no word that we’ve seen regarding possible studio work.

Reported over at the DGMLive.com website Crim’s first date will be opening a three day stint at Park West, Chicago, August 6th, 2008 before storming out to Keswick Theater in Philadelphia for August 11th and 12th, and then wrapping up the current list of dates we have sees them at the Nokia Theater in New York, NY from August 14th-16th.

Keen eye’d people will note that this tour will inaugurate the latest formation of King Crimson which includes a slight shift in personnel as follows:

• Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison.

We’ll keep an eye out for further dates as they arrive, but as always, check with the venue in order to confirm dates and times before making travel plans!

Touring goes across the US making several stops in many places along the way, ending, at this time, in Vienna, VA., at Jammin’ Java on March 15th, 2008.

No current word on if this list is in fact finalized, or if there may be further changes or new dates added, but just glancing, there doesn’t appear to be many open dates on the schedule.  Of course, for the latest accurate tour details, be sure to check out Adrian’s recently redesigned official website here: http://www.adrianbelew.net/

No word on possible venues, but my guess is the traditional pocket gigs in Nashville will be set in due time.

The League of Crafty Guitarists will be playing 9 different cities in 8 different states, starting off in Virginia and ending in Wisconsin, and touching on several points in between.  Be sure to check out their website for the latest tour information and to see where the closest venue is.

Only a crazy person would pass up this rare opportunity to see them live, so be sure to visit them when they come to your area!

Musicians and live electr(on)icians Stefan Erbe (Hagen) and Bernhard Wöstheinrich (Gütersloh) host this real-time audiovisual composition in the unique setting and ambience of the Hagen Planetarium.

Stefan Erbe, well-known electronic musician from Hagen, has fascinated Hagen Planetarium audiences again and again over the past 12 years. His eclectic amalgamation of diverse branches of electronic music brought him fame far beyond the German Ruhr region.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich is mastermind of the cosmopolitan ambient combo centrozoon. Solo, he is known as one of the great ambient music artists across German. In concerts, he engages and surrounds listeners with his sprawling, elegiac brand of live improvisation.

As the venue opens at 19:00, guests are invited to join a lecture by Dortmund astronomer Werner Volmer as he provides interesting insights and impressions of Earth’s nearest start-the sun. After the lecture, guests may observe the sun through the special telescopes and take a tour of the planetarium.

This scientific background provides an exciting contrast and sets the mood for the night’s artistic highlight.

Over at the PlanetCrimson.net forums, penston dropped in the news that Pat Mastelotto and Trey Gunn, as TU, will be opening for Tool for a pair of dates next week.

On May 21st, they’ll be in San Antonio, TX., at the AT&T Center, and then on May 22nd, they’ll be playing the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, TX. (Check with the venue before making any travel plans!)

Good stuff! This will be a great opportunity for Tool fans to get initiated by TU as the “rhythm buddies” open up those shows, and for TU, some great exposure to an otherwise unlikely audience!

Just after wrapping up a tour with Todd Rundgren, a date with Artie Traum, Papabear is gearing up now for a relaxing two day tour in Hawaii with Joe Caro, Randy Brecker and Steve Ferrone, following that up with 3 days in Rochester with Chuck Mangione & Orchestra, Papabear has filled out much of his summer plans as he will be headed out on the road with Peter Gabriel covering most of June and July, as well as a date in August, which is preceded by an August 3rd date with his brother Pete Levin at the Quarry Jazz Festival in Woodstock, NY.

If you look at that list, you’ll notice that June 24th is listed as, “TBA”, or “To Be Announced”.  What this means, probably only Adrian and the Slicks know, along with who or what will be announced.  Our best knowledge indicates the possible involvement with “at least two other megastars”, and that a press release is forthcoming on April 22nd or 23rd.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to block off June 24th on your schedule!

More as it comes…

In addition comes word that Pat’s other recent project, KTU has started recording their next album.  Pat reports that the US tour was well received, and they have been invited back next year, (2008).  We’ll have to see how that works out, but certainly, that’s good news.

Regarding the upcoming DVD release is word that “The Arrow” has finally gone to press and they will have the finished copies by April 24th, 2007.

No word on avenues for purchase yet, but once we find out, we’ll certainly bring it up.   For now, be sure to read up on the tour date specifics over at their MySpace.com website HERE.

After wrapping up a show at the Knitting Factory in LA, they are joining up with the Canadian Music Week in Toronto, Ontario tonight. Filling out the rest of the month are dates in New York, SXSW in Austin, Texas, Chicago, and then two nights in Mexico City. Check out the news section of PatMastelotto.com for more details. Currently Tony is scheduled to accompany the Trio through February 18th where they wrap up their tour of Italy at Teatro Aurora in Margera, Venezia, Italy.

Paul, Bert and Hideyo, (the CGT), then fly back to the US east coast for for further touring through early March.  See the tourdates section of their website for further details.

After Italy, Tony does a pair of shows in late February with Murali Coryell, and then in March, the Tony Levin Band starts back up, with a pair of shows currently scheduled.

The first day is when most of the artists are currently scheduled for, so I would imagine there may yet be some additions to the lineup, which already includes some other very interesting names, the above list, not withstanding.

So far there are a variety of dates, 9 in Spain and Portugal in April, and 8 of which are in Argentina during the last day of May and into June.

There was no mention of possible dates elsewhere, but this is certainly a wonderful opportunity for those of you who live in those areas to see some true excellence, bar none!  Be sure not to miss it if they come your way!

Adrian recently posted up on his new blog that it would be a project involving ProjeKct 6 opening for the Tony Levin Band followed by the Adrian Belew Power Trio, followed by an encore of Robert, Adrian, Tony, and Eric Slick playing some King Crimson classics.  In my eyes this seems sort of like H.O.R.D.E. reinvented  for KC fans, and certainly not to be missed!

Apparantly K3 was originally intended to roll out this March, however, it looks like it will be sometime after June but no dates have been released yet.  I don’t care what it takes, I’m going to one of those shows!

But there is a more immediate Adrian Belew Power Trio show mentioned, and a very fun one at that!  There are two dates currently on the schedule for the Adrian Belew Power Trio: February, the 15th and the 17th.  The 15th will be in Cleveland, Ohio at the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame.  The 17th looks like the winner to me though as that show will be used to make a live record, (Side 4).  That show is set to be at the Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky.  I already have some shoes ready for the foot stomping time that will be!

If that wasn’t enough Rhino King news for you, don’t forget that today at some point they are scheduled to release the redesign of the Official Adrian Belew website, so be sure to ping them every once in a while to see if they’ve updated!
