In the interview Pat indicates that the current intention for KC at this time is US based residency gigs focusing on existing repertoire and no new material.

Presumably this is to get the band back on the same page after their 3 year hiatus as well as acclimate the new and returning members to life as King Crimson.

If things go well, Pat indicates that a natural progression could follow, who knows?

Be sure to check out the Alterati Ripple show for all the details:

This version of Tuner’s 11-11 has drumming by Ryan Smith, and I think it might be one of the very best of the bunch!

You can find the submission at the 11-11 page HERE

One note: I did notice a weird little bug in Firefox, which makes the player stop if you play the track embedded in the page, then switch to a different tab, but this issue does not appear if you click “Play in Popup”. Please let me know what your experience is in the comments below, there is no doubt that other issues exist with our new system.

In addition comes word that Pat’s other recent project, KTU has started recording their next album. Pat reports that the US tour was well received, and they have been invited back next year, (2008). We’ll have to see how that works out, but certainly, that’s good news.

A few weeks ago, we mentioned that TUNER had released a drumless version of ‘11-11′, encouraging anyone to download and add their own drum track to it. Markus has asked if we would like to participate, and I gladly accepted the opportunity.

So, each Monday, over the next 11 weeks, we will be posting a version of ‘11-11′ with the a guest percussionist’s rendition of the drum track with it. We’ll have a special page up to hold them, where you’ll be able to listen in and comment on the different tracks. After the 11 weeks is up, the twelfth week will be June 4th, 2007, when the new album, ‘POLE’, is released, providing us with 11+1 versions of ‘11-11′.

We’ll make an announcement once the first track is online. For now, be sure to check out the TUNERBand.com website for further details.

On April 21st and 22nd of this year, (2007), The Gouveia Art Rock festival convenes in Gouveia, Portugal for two days of music which includes many artists routinely reported on right here!

Here’s a run down of the KN centric artists currently scheduled at the website, be sure to confirm with the festival before making any travel arrangements!:

Robert Fripp on Soundscapes

The League of Crafty Guitarists

The California Guitar Trio

All in all, it makes you think Krimson News should have a table setup somewhere over there on the first day, doesn’t it? hah!

The first day is when most of the artists are currently scheduled for, so I would imagine there may yet be some additions to the lineup, which already includes some other very interesting names, the above list, not withstanding.

The track which is available for free download is entitled, ‘11-11′ and features spoken word by Pat, bass, guitars, keyboards and counting by Markus. In addition the track also features Laura Scarborough on vibes and Pamelia Kurstin on theremin.

As indicated in the title, you are invited to add your very own drum/percussion track to the piece which sits at 10 minutes 47 seconds. A page for submitting your work on the track will be online by late March and if you catch their ear well enough you might be contacted by them so they can get your permission and the multitrack of the drum part to mix into the track on a future EP.

People who are not necessarily interested in submitting for the contest are also invited to download as sort of a preview of the soon to be released album, “Pole”. It works well even without drums, but I’m certainly looking forward to what it sounds like with them.

I recently received word that Pat Mastelotto and Markus Reuter's band Tuner has posted a drumless version of a track off of their forthcoming album, "Pole", as a contest of sorts. The track which is available for free download is entitled, '11-11' and features spoken word by Pat, bass, guitars, keyboards and counting by Markus.
