This part of the interview goes over Adrian’s roots and performance history and does reflect a willingness to continue some of his other group efforts, such as the Bears and that other small band we love, King Crimson.

The July issue of Guitar Player also features Adrian in their ‘Oeuvre Easy’ column which looks at his career and classifies some of his music as inspired/required/and tired. This issue is on newstands now, but unfortunately Guitar Player doesn’t post web links to its articles until about a month after subscribers get their issue. Look for a link here in 30 days or so.

As has become almost a sort of tradition, Nashville will be the public warmup location of choice for this August’s Crim tour.  You’ll find a pair of dates, August 2nd, and 3rd at the Belcourt where the mighty Crim will once again awaken from its slumber.

Belcourt is not a terribly huge venue, (about 334 seats or so), so expect these to go fast!

Reported over at the DGMLive.com website Crim’s first date will be opening a three day stint at Park West, Chicago, August 6th, 2008 before storming out to Keswick Theater in Philadelphia for August 11th and 12th, and then wrapping up the current list of dates we have sees them at the Nokia Theater in New York, NY from August 14th-16th.

Keen eye’d people will note that this tour will inaugurate the latest formation of King Crimson which includes a slight shift in personnel as follows:

• Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison.

We’ll keep an eye out for further dates as they arrive, but as always, check with the venue in order to confirm dates and times before making travel plans!

Touring goes across the US making several stops in many places along the way, ending, at this time, in Vienna, VA., at Jammin’ Java on March 15th, 2008.

No current word on if this list is in fact finalized, or if there may be further changes or new dates added, but just glancing, there doesn’t appear to be many open dates on the schedule.  Of course, for the latest accurate tour details, be sure to check out Adrian’s recently redesigned official website here: http://www.adrianbelew.net/

Please make sure to get your order in soon so they can get it out to you before Christmas, as an issue at the CD printer’s shop has caused a delay in the actual shipment of a few days.  Rest assured, they indicate that by mid December, the CD’s should be in the hands of those who order.

At this time, I was unable to locate a track listing, but we’ll see about getting those details as we find them!

Trent and Adrian share a healthy mutual respect professionally, and quite honestly, it’s great to see them back together again after being absent from NIN’s last two studio albums.  Adrian’s work was featured on Nine Inch Nail’s “Downward Spiral” in 1994, and “The Fragile” in 1999.

Apparently this new collaboration begins in December, and from related reading it does appear that it will be work related to a brand new NIN album!

We originally saw this over at Engadget.  Interested in learning more?  Click that Engadget link, but they essentially appear to be a full music appliance with touch screen abilities, an embedded music store, and 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB (1000GB) sizes, and no shortage of other useful and gee whiz features for a pretty remarkable price ranging from $5995-$7795.

Crimson related?  Not really even news, but neat, and when we saw it, we knew it had to be shared!  If anyone out there wants to donate one of these to the Krimson News cause, let us know! Ha!

So far, 5 dates/locations have been indicated, with more info and dates likely to be revealed soon.  Here is what we have so far, culled from Robin Slick’s blog:

June 22, 2007 – Rams Head On Stage - Annapolis, MD
June 23, 2007 – Sellersville Theater - Sellersville, PA
June 24, 2007 – TBA
June 25, 2007 – BB Kings - New York, NY
July 2007 – Tokyo, Japan

If you look at that list, you’ll notice that June 24th is listed as, “TBA”, or “To Be Announced”.  What this means, probably only Adrian and the Slicks know, along with who or what will be announced.  Our best knowledge indicates the possible involvement with “at least two other megastars”, and that a press release is forthcoming on April 22nd or 23rd.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to block off June 24th on your schedule!

You can tune in at  WAIF’s streaming site tonight, (April 17th, 2006), and listen live, and we suspect that the show will be archived soon after, at Chris Comer’s website for those of you who can’t listen live.

In addition, next month sees The Bears off on a short 8 stop tour that goes from April 26th through May 4th, so be sure to check that out on their Tourdates page.

Featuring Chris Arduser on drums, Rob Fetters and Adrian Belew on guitar, and Bob Nyswonger on bass, ‘Eureka’ marks the fourth studio release for The Bears, released 20 years since their first album back in 1987.

During the interview, Adrian, Chris, and Rob discuss the Adrian Belew Power Trio and the upcoming Bears release, ‘Voila!’. You’ll also get to hear a one liner from Adrian.

The Bears, of course, consist of Adrian Belew, Rob Fetters, Chris Arduser and Bob Nyswonger.

With a name, sure to be the seed for many lame puns in small record shops across the land, ‘Voila!’, is the fourth studio album to be released by the Bears quartet.  The album has been described by Adrian to be, “grrrrrrreat!”.

Earlier this month, he also let us know a few song titles, and teased us on another.

Adrian also indicated that he and his bandmates all agree that it is likely their best album yet.  From my standpoint, they’ve only gotten better over the years, like masters honing their skills, and I certainly can’t wait to hear it!

They join the excellent downloadable live recording of the Adrian Belew Power Trio’s ‘Beat Box Guitar’, which went on sale just a few days ago for $2.99.  This may seem initially to be a little steep, but I’ve heard nary a complaint from the many people who have downloaded it.  In fact, all of the reviews I’ve seen have been incredibly positive, indicating the track was quite well received.

‘Dust’, as many of you may know, is a collection of varied edits, outtakes, ideas and other similar items which Adrian has been collecting during his career, and in the last few years, began to compile with the intention of releasing them.

Adrian recently posted up on his new blog that it would be a project involving ProjeKct 6 opening for the Tony Levin Band followed by the Adrian Belew Power Trio, followed by an encore of Robert, Adrian, Tony, and Eric Slick playing some King Crimson classics.  In my eyes this seems sort of like H.O.R.D.E. reinvented  for KC fans, and certainly not to be missed!

Apparantly K3 was originally intended to roll out this March, however, it looks like it will be sometime after June but no dates have been released yet.  I don’t care what it takes, I’m going to one of those shows!

But there is a more immediate Adrian Belew Power Trio show mentioned, and a very fun one at that!  There are two dates currently on the schedule for the Adrian Belew Power Trio: February, the 15th and the 17th.  The 15th will be in Cleveland, Ohio at the Rock ‘N Roll Hall of Fame.  The 17th looks like the winner to me though as that show will be used to make a live record, (Side 4).  That show is set to be at the Southgate House in Newport, Kentucky.  I already have some shoes ready for the foot stomping time that will be!

If that wasn’t enough Rhino King news for you, don’t forget that today at some point they are scheduled to release the redesign of the Official Adrian Belew website, so be sure to ping them every once in a while to see if they’ve updated!

The latest item, which was posted yesterday, is a photo of the recently posted synth guitar which should be up for bidding over at eBay very soon.

He indicated he has already sold off a few guitar effects pedals and amps, however the good news for memorabilia collectors out there is that he also will be auctioning off some of his guitars, and has posted information regarding his next planned auction.

Adrian describes the guitar as a brown Roland fretless guitar synthesizer which makes a face when you turn it upside down. He also indicates that he was featured playing it in the Laurie Anderson movie, “Home of the Brave“. It features locking tuning keys, three single coil pickups and a black kahler tremelo, but perhaps the coolest part of the guitar is that it was lovingly hand painted with a telephone, lightning bolt, and revolving chair motif by none other than Laurie Anderson herself! How cool is that?

We have no photo of the guitar yet as the auction will not be posted until Tuesday, January 23rd. The auction will run for 10 days to bid up what Adrian himself describes as a lofty reserve price. Once the auction is active we will make and update with a link to help you find it. I’m curious what it looks like! (My best guess would be that it is a customized Roland GR300, but don’t quote me on that, it is totally a guess.)
