Not sure when this was released, (had to be within the last week or two), but I just noticed that the California Guitar Trio’s Winter Tour 2007 live compilation is now available for download in both MP3 and FLAC (lossless audio) formats.

The release contains 20 tracks weighing in at nearly 79 minutes of audio, it’s contains an assortment of some CGT classics and some of their newer items.

For you CD lovers out there, the CGT haven’t forgotten about you!  There is a new studio compilation release that came out this year, appropriately entitled “Highlights”.

They join the excellent downloadable live recording of the Adrian Belew Power Trio’s ‘Beat Box Guitar’, which went on sale just a few days ago for $2.99.  This may seem initially to be a little steep, but I’ve heard nary a complaint from the many people who have downloaded it.  In fact, all of the reviews I’ve seen have been incredibly positive, indicating the track was quite well received.

‘Dust’, as many of you may know, is a collection of varied edits, outtakes, ideas and other similar items which Adrian has been collecting during his career, and in the last few years, began to compile with the intention of releasing them.

Yes, that’s right folks, DGMLive.com turned "one years old" today, and to celebrate, they’re giving us the presents, including a free live King Crimson album!  How cool is that?

Today they’ve released two new items:

• King Crimson Live at Berkeley – August 13th, 1982 – FREE!!!
• Robert Fripp Soundscape Compilation – Evensong

Also in the news item is word that they are improving the already quite reasonable audio quality of their MP3 downloads from a standard 128kbps to a variable bitrate which ranges between 192-320kbps.  This is in progress for the entire downloadable catalog, but these two items "kick off" the upgraded encoding format.  For those into "better than MP3" lossless FLAC encoding, this is still available at a small premium.
