What gives this a Crim spin is that this album features some guest appearances from Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison amongst many others, in fact, here’s a snippet of the writeup:

A distinctive combination of beautifully detailed songwriting, haunting melodies and inventively cinematic production, ‘Schoolyard Ghosts’ sees Tim and Steven expanding the band’s sonic palette yet again by collaborating with (amongst others) Californian pedal steel guitar ace Bruce Kaphan (American Music Club, Red House Painters), drummers Pat Mastelotto(King Crimson, Mastica) and Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson), saxophonist/flautist Theo Travis, and the London Session Orchestra arranged by Dave Stewart(Hatfield & The North, Egg, Stewart & Gaskin etc).

Please make sure to get your order in soon so they can get it out to you before Christmas, as an issue at the CD printer’s shop has caused a delay in the actual shipment of a few days.  Rest assured, they indicate that by mid December, the CD’s should be in the hands of those who order.

At this time, I was unable to locate a track listing, but we’ll see about getting those details as we find them!

To whet your appetites, he also has a couple of free excerpt tracks available for preview there, with an opportunity to do purchase of said sample’s full tracks.  These tracks are entitled, “Welcome”, ”Speedbump”, and “Slow Glide” the latter being my current fav, and recent purchase.  At a buck it was impossible to pass up trying out at least one track.

I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s nice to hear Tony getting on the “Stick” making his new album so check it out!

Asia also kicked off a new North American leg of their tour last week. They will be playing some dates in Germany and Italy in late July and the UK in December. You can find the tour dates at the Original Asia website here. Keep checking as more European dates will be announced.

Finally, Steve Howe was interviewed by Billboard a week ago about the tour, but also mentioned that Asia will begin recording a new studio album in early 2008. You can read about it here.

In addition comes word that Pat’s other recent project, KTU has started recording their next album.  Pat reports that the US tour was well received, and they have been invited back next year, (2008).  We’ll have to see how that works out, but certainly, that’s good news.

In addition, next month sees The Bears off on a short 8 stop tour that goes from April 26th through May 4th, so be sure to check that out on their Tourdates page.

Featuring Chris Arduser on drums, Rob Fetters and Adrian Belew on guitar, and Bob Nyswonger on bass, ‘Eureka’ marks the fourth studio release for The Bears, released 20 years since their first album back in 1987.

Not sure when this was released, (had to be within the last week or two), but I just noticed that the California Guitar Trio’s Winter Tour 2007 live compilation is now available for download in both MP3 and FLAC (lossless audio) formats.

The release contains 20 tracks weighing in at nearly 79 minutes of audio, it’s contains an assortment of some CGT classics and some of their newer items.

For you CD lovers out there, the CGT haven’t forgotten about you!  There is a new studio compilation release that came out this year, appropriately entitled “Highlights”.

The Bears, of course, consist of Adrian Belew, Rob Fetters, Chris Arduser and Bob Nyswonger.

With a name, sure to be the seed for many lame puns in small record shops across the land, ‘Voila!’, is the fourth studio album to be released by the Bears quartet.  The album has been described by Adrian to be, “grrrrrrreat!”.

Earlier this month, he also let us know a few song titles, and teased us on another.

Adrian also indicated that he and his bandmates all agree that it is likely their best album yet.  From my standpoint, they’ve only gotten better over the years, like masters honing their skills, and I certainly can’t wait to hear it!

Markus is probably best known for his recent work in the band Centrozoon and TUNER.  You can also find his work in many places including Isildur’s Bane where he and Pat Mastelotto performed at the IB Expo ‘06 alongside 11 other incredibly talented musicians.

The original line up of Asia took the music world by storm in 1982 and consisted of progressive rock superstars John Wetton, Geoff Downes, Steve Howe and Carl Palmer. Asia’s self titled first album was the biggest selling album in the world that year. The current tour features the Wetton era hits with a dose of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Yes and even ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’ reportedly worked into the set list.

This week also marks the release of Asia’s The Definitive Collection on CD. Another in what seems like an endless stream of reissues of Asia’s hits, this all Wetton hit package has 16 tracks including Geoff Downe’s remix of ‘Go’. If you live in the States, Best Buy has an exclusive CD/DVD version that contains all six of the band’s music videos from the early 1980s. While clearly influenced by the embryonic stages of MTV, the videos make for some interesting viewing. This deluxe version is on sale for just $7.99 through Saturday at Best Buy only.
