J Buckman Responds RE Weedshare Demise

And who is John Buckman?

John is the visionary behind several wildly successful and remarkable web ventures including Magnatune, BookMooch, and Lyris, amongst other things.

In the article John discusses a bit about what Weedshare was all about, how he knows Steve Turnidge, what caused Weedshare to be taken offline, and what the future may hold as the founder begins the process of rebuilding with a new technology and system.

John is a remarkable visionary in many respects, and the article holds back little on his personal feelings regarding the promises of what Weedshare could have offered artists and listeners had it been properly supported by the vendor of the software.

In the past we have offered a few Weedshare DRM’d files for sale at this site. If you have purchased files, we suggest you burn those licensed files to a CD, to provide yourself a backup, in case you lose those files. If you had money in your Weedshare account, be sure to contact them in order to withdraw any funds which you may have left in your account.
