Liquid Tension Experiment Lives?

This borders on rumor, but it appears that it is quite possible that Liquid Tension Experiment may yet collaborate for a third album!

Liquid Tension Experiment consists of Tony Levin, and Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, and John Petrucci, and Jordan Rudess. Liquid Tension Experiment is well described by the Wikipedia as an instrumental rock project playing fast and furious fusion based songs, like a jazzy Dream Theater, but without vocals.

Their last album, (Liquid Tension Experiment 2), was released back in 1999, and subsequently members, most notably, Mike Portnoy, have stated that there would not be a third LTE album released, since 3/4 of the band is the current Dream Theater lineup.

Ultimate-Guitar.com recently posted a news story about a third album, indicating that this may have all changed recently when Mike Portnoy posted on his own message boards a short message indicating a desire to proceed with a third Liquid Tension Experiment album:

Post @ Mike Portnoy’s Site Forum

In the post he indicates that they’d like to get back together as Liquid Tension Experiment and do some more music some day, but that there is an obstacle currently precluding this, presumeably related to difficulties Portnoy experienced with LTE’s record label, Magna Carta.

Where there is a will, usually these things can work themselves out, and I for one will wait patiently for the third album! Thanks to ProgArchives.com’s forum for the tip!
